THE EASTER BUNNY IS COMING TO MARATHON
It’s not the egg-stravaganza it normally is in the Middle Keys, but Easter celebrations are on the books for 2021:
Sunrise service set for Sombrero Beach
Local churches are joining forces to put together an Easter “Sonrise” service at Sombrero Beach in Marathon on Sunday, April 4 at 7 a.m. Church of God, Church of Christ, Community United Methodist, Kirk of the Keys and St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal will participate. Usually, the leaders of each church participate in the sermon. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair, socially distance themselves and wear a mask.
Easter egg hunt at First Baptist
The First Baptist Church of Marathon is having an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 3 starting at 11 a.m. The hunt is for children ages 2 to 12 years old and the Easter Bunny will be present for photos at the church on 62nd Street.
Aquarium hosts egg hunt
The Easter egg hunt at Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters is free with paid admission for children 12 years old and under. Eggs will be filled with candy, feed tokens (for the fish) and prizes for free aquarium packages. The hunt is on Saturday, April 3 beginning at 9 a.m.
Bunny raises funds for Christmas
Join the Easter Bunny at Havana Jacks on Sunday, April 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. The Key Colony Beach egg hunt will help raise funds for Presents in Paradise, which provides Christmas for underprivileged children in the Florida Keys. This event is outside, and participants are asked to maintain distance from one another.
