NAVY FIGHTER JETS TO CONDUCT NIGHT FLIGHTS

The U.S. Navy will conduct a field carrier landing practice (FCLP) operation at Naval Air Station Key West’s Boca Chica Field with Super Hornet fighter jets that come from Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia to train. The landings will take place Friday to Sunday, April 9 to 11, from 7 to 10 p.m.  “Residents in the neighborhoods around Boca Chica Field will notice an increase in jet noise during the training periods,” states a press release from the Navy. “We try to get this information out to everyone as early as possible so residents can plan accordingly,” Sohaney said.  The Boca...

Did you catch all that? Key West officials answered several high-profile questions at the March 31 city commission meeting. Here’s the rundown: WILL THE CITY EXPAND THE HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD FROM FIVE TO SEVEN SEATS? No. The commission voted 5-2 against the expansion. 500-MILE BIKE RIDE ENDS IN KEY WEST; RAISES MONEY FOR INTERNATIONAL KIDS

Sixty-seven bicyclists pedaled and persevered for 500 miles on a five-day mission to raise money and awareness for global youth issues. The 2021 Key West Bike Ride was the 10th annual ride.  The cyclists, each part of the nonprofit Ends of the Earth mission organization, left Fort Myers on March 20 and arrived in Key West March 24.
