This May, the History of Diving Museum celebrates past and active military service members through special programming and visiting opportunities.
Since opening in 2005, the History of Diving Museum’s founders, Joe and Sally Bauer, instituted a program to extend free admission to active duty military service members. The museum’s military outreach expanded when they joined the Blue Star Museums program at its inception in 2010. The Roberta’s team will be taking over Il Postino’s pizza oven to serve up their own iconic pizzas such as the Bee Sting, Famous Original, Classic Margherita, and more for Isla Bella’s hotel guests and visitors to enjoy through room service and at their oceanfront dining.

A group of Keys visitors took paint brush to canvas as they readied themselves for an Easter masterpiece of epic proportions. A special holiday-themed “paint and sip” at Key Largo’s Baker’s Cay on March 25 saw roughly 20 people painting and an island Easter-themed painting with palm trees, the true blue and some bunny tracks with a bag of eggs. Leading the painting event was local artist Brittany Parker.

One of the best measures of tourism and the Keys’ economy is our so-called “bed tax.” The most recent report reveals an astonishing snapshot of how different areas of the Keys are faring.
In January, the most recent report available, Key West’s bed tax collection is way down, while the Lower Keys and Marathon are way up, especially the Lower Keys.
