The Key West High School Conchs faced a tough competitor for a pre-season game on Aug. 20 against Miami’s Monsignor Pace High School. The visiting team defeated the Conchs 53-24 in the newly renovated Backyard of Key West High School. The Conchs will play all home games this season and next at the Backyard while the new, $15 million Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium is under construction. Football returns to Key West High School on Friday night, Aug. 20, when Monsignor Pace arrives. The 7 p.m. pre-season game will be played at the school’s new Backyard as will all Conch football and soccer games for the next two years as Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium gets refurbished to the tune of $15 million. The stadium on Kennedy Drive is slated for a complete $15 million upgrade in the next two years.
